Fantastic blog! Yours is definitely the best I have seen yet. Your comments are very intriguing and to the point.
I am curious to know about your major project, GIS. I get the poor-college kid thing for your other choice.
About the "vektr" experience, I would have to agree with your comments. I didn't think it was incredibly user-friendly because it was hard to do something simple without making that task more complex. However, I do think for a person or company who needed something quick and simple, vektr could be quickly taught and adapted while waiting for a more sophisticated and customized application to be put in place.
